Romano Rancho is a small family farm in the hills of southern Portugal, surrounded by ancient cork oaks and open land. We live here, grow here, and are slowly building a place shaped by the land rather than by a plan for tourism.
We welcome travellers who want to slow down, explore the forest, share simple food, and experience a quieter way of living. The farm stay is simply one way to experience Romano Rancho.
A quiet cork oak forest with space to walk, rest, breathe and simply be. Explore the tracks, watch the seasons change, meet the family, or do absolutely nothing for a while.
There is limited signal, few distractions, and no need to rush.

The trees you're parking beside are cork oaks — some hundreds of years old. Cork is harvested from the living tree rather than cutting it down, and Portuguese law sets a minimum nine-year growth period between harvests for mature cork. The bark grows back, and the tree continues to live.
This forest is part of what makes Romano Rancho special. Park beneath the trees, walk the land at your own pace, and follow the trail up the hill for wide views across the Algarve. Sunset is especially beautiful.
